Southwest Airlines (WN) Cheapest Flight Deals
If you’ve flown commercial into Dallas, Texas there’s a 50/50 chance you probably landed at Dallas-Love Field (DAL). The United States Army established this hub/home of Southwest Airlines in 1917. The airline was established by Herb Keller in 1976 and became Southwest Airlines in 1971. Love Field went through an entire remodel with final stages completed in 2015. It boasts a modern vibe and even has a dog park!
Southwest used to only be an intrastate airline, but as of October 2014 with the lifting of the Wright Amendment, Southwest now has non-stops across the country and as of late, they’re going international. Have you heard of the Southwest Effect? Check it out. Known for their laid-back culture, some of their flight attendants even become YouTube famous for their creative and entertaining in-flight announcements.
By April 2016, Southwest has over 90 destinations in the United States, Puerto Rico and abroad. Their frequent flyer program is called Rapid Rewards. They are not a part of any alliance nor do they have any airline partners. They are still maintaining the trophy for “bags fly free” – as you get up to two free checked bags with your flight. Their cancellation policy is also very flexible.
