Saudia Airlines (SV) Cheapest Flight Deals

Also known as Saudi Arabian Airlines, Saudia is the main carrier airline of Saudi Arabia and is based in Jeddah (JED). They fly to over 125 destinations around the world and are owned by the Saudi Arabian Government. They are also a part of the SkyTeam airline alliance and joined in 2012.

The origin of Saudi Arabian Airlines goes back to April 1945 when U.S. President Franklin D. Roosevelt presented a single Douglas DC-3 to King Abdul Aziz ibn Saud (taken from Encyclopedia.com). The single aircraft was put to use to transport mail and passengers between the three main cities of Jeddeh, Riyadh and Dhahran. By the end of the year, three more were purchased by the Saudi Arabian government and by the end of 1946, the first overseas office was taking bookings in Cairo.

According to their “Culture Overview” on their website, the Saudi Government has granted more tourist visas per country to open up and showcase the beauty and heritage of the country. The capital is Riyadh, which is a thriving metropolis; Jeddah (called the Red Sea Mermaid) is home to the world’s largest fountain and is a relaxed city. You can also dive in the Red Sea or explore the archeology from ancient kingdoms.
